Rhone is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. It’s built with durable, UV-resistant materials to withstand sun, rain, and seasonal changes.
We recommend placing it in a shaded or covered area when possible. This helps reduce dirt accumulation, supports consistent insulation performance, and avoids large temperature swings. While the lid is UV-resistant, extended sun exposure may temporarily cause slight flexing due to high heat — this naturally returns to normal as the material cools.
Yes, the Theralpine chiller is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Its IPX5-rated housing protects against rain and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor environments.
For optimal performance and long-term reliability, we recommend placing the chiller in a shaded, well-ventilated, and covered location. While IPX5 ensures resistance to splashes and rain, it is not intended for prolonged exposure to extreme weather, standing water, or water submersion. Users are responsible for protecting the unit from such conditions. Improper use or failure to shield the chiller may void warranty coverage in case of damage.
117 x 78 x 80cm (L x W x H), with lid
117 x 78 x 75cm (L x W x H), without lid
Weight: 37kg empty, ~267 kg when filled with water at a typical fill level of 230L
Rhone features two female 3/4” (19mm) BSPT (tapered/Rc) ports, compliant with ISO 7-1 standards.
We recommend exclusively using male 3/4” (19mm) BSPT (tapered/R) fittings for best compatibility.
Please note:
While we design and test our products for optimal performance and durability, we do not test third-party chillers, pumps, or accessories. As such, we cannot guarantee safety or results when using non-Theralpine components. Always install and secure all fittings carefully to avoid leaks or damage.
There’s no magic number. The key is that it feels uncomfortably cold. That’s when the real benefits begin. Most people start between 10–15°C, but it all depends on personal tolerance and gradual adaptation. You don’t need extreme temperatures to see results.
If you are someone who thrives on progress and seeks new challenges, consider adding our water chiller for the ultimate cold plunge experience and precise temperature control.

For healthy beginners, we recommend starting with at least 90 seconds. Focus on controlling your breathing and resisting the urge to get out early. As your tolerance builds, sessions of 3-5 minutes are common. Always consult a physician if unsure.

2–4 times per week is a great starting point, with a goal of at least 11 minutes total per week for optimal results.

Rhone can be used with or without a water chiller. Paired with the Theralpine chiller, you can plunge as cold as 0°C or warm up to 42°C.
In regions with harsh winters, we recommend ensuring the water doesn’t freeze completely. While Rhone is highly insulated, prolonged sub-zero temperatures can cause the water to freeze into a solid block. This prevents use and may also place unnecessary stress on the material due to ice expansion.
No, you don’t need ice to take an “ice bath.” In fact, water chillers often cool the water more effectively than adding ice to tap water. Whether there’s ice floating or not says little about the actual temperature.
Ultimately, the premium setup is a well-insulated tub like the Theralpine Rhone paired with our high quality water chiller. It gives you full control over water temperature, keeps your water clean longer, and helps you level up when you're ready.
That said, you can still get excellent results using Rhone with just cold tap water, adjusting the temperature to your preference with added ice. Thanks to its industry-leading insulation, it keeps water cold for multiple days, even without a chiller.
Water Care & Maintenance
No chiller, no water treatment: If you’re not using a chiller or any form of treatment, we recommend changing the water every 2–4 days, depending on use and environmental factors. Showering before use and covering the tub can help extend water quality slightly.
No chiller, with water treatment: With basic chemical treatment (e.g. small amounts of chlorine or hydrogen peroxide) and no chiller, you can typically extend water use to around 7 days, depending on usage frequency and how cold the water stays. Keep an eye on water clarity and smell, and change it if anything seems off.
With chiller (filtration + ozone purification): When using the Theralpine chiller with integrated micron filtration and ozone purification, water can typically stay clean for up to 4 weeks with regular use. We recommend running the filtration system for at least 2-3h per day to maintain optimal water quality. Additional water treatment is optional but may further support cleanliness.
The Theralpine chiller uses a high-precision 20-micron filter to remove hair, debris, and fine particles from the water. It also features ozone purification, a chemical-free method that neutralizes bacteria and supports long-lasting water clarity.
Yes, Rhone and the Theralpine chiller are compatible with fresh water, chlorine, Epsom salts, and low-salinity saltwater. We don’t recommend essential oils or highly concentrated additives, as they may affect material integrity over time.
Safety & Sizing
Rhone is structurally very strong and supports users up to 150 kg and over 2 meters tall. While the fit is tighter for very tall individuals, professional basketball players above 2 meters have reported feeling comfortable. Ground-level entry makes it accessible to most users.
Rhone is designed with safety and accessibility in mind. Its ground-level entry eliminates the need to climb up or balance on steps, which represents a common risk with many other tubs. Inside, a textured anti-slip floor provides secure footing, even when wet. Unlike many cold plunge products that include elevated bases or slippery internal steps, Rhone prioritizes real-world usability and minimizes the risk of slipping or falling.
In most cases, yes. Rhone was purposefully designed with this use case in mind. Its compact footprint and optimized weight distribution help minimize load per square meter, aligning with common guidelines for balcony load-bearing capacity in Europe.
However, since every structure is different, we cannot guarantee compatibility with your specific space. We recommend consulting your building management or a structural engineer to ensure your balcony or terrace can safely support the filled weight (approx. 267 kg at typical water level).
